High School: Holds Buckhannon-Upshur's passing records. Also participated in basketball and track and field. Finished fourth at the WVSSAC Championship meet in the shot put.
Personal: A member of the National Honor Society. The son of Bill and Brenda Wells. His uncle, David Burden played football at Florida State, his cousin John Burden played football at Northwestern, and another cousin Will Hosaflook played football at Marshall.
