Bio

Anthony Goliver is in his first year as Carson-Newman's Special Teams Coordinator and Chief of Staff.

Goliver wrapped his fourth season on the UCLA football staff and the first season as a special teams analyst in 2025. Goliver spent the previous three seasons as a defensive graduate assistant for the Bruins before head coach DeShaun Foster promoted him in March 2025.

Goliver worked with every position group on the Bruins’ defense from 2022-24. Over the past two seasons, Goliver had helped produce two top-five rushing defenses, including the nation’s second-best mark in 2023 with 80.8 rushing yards allowed per game. Goliver coordinated the daily operations of the defensive staff and was responsible for opponent film breakdown, data organization and other essential game-planning duties.

Goliver has also played a role in UCLA’s recruiting efforts, assisting the Bruins’ defensive coaching staff with identifying talent and leading facility and on-campus tours.

Prior to UCLA, Goliver started his football coaching career overseas in Japan. From 2019-2021, Goliver served as associate head coach and offensive coordinator for the Camp Hansen Outlaws, a team in the Okinawa American Football League. Goliver led the Outlaws’ offense before the COVID-19 Pandemic. Goliver also served Kadena High School in Okinawa, Japan as the varsity assistant and junior varsity defensive coordinator before returning to the United States.

Before embarking on a career in coaching, Goliver spent seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps, working his way through the ranks and ultimately mentoring a platoon of more than 30 soldiers.

Goliver completed the development program for coaching through Soldiers to Sidelines. He played sprint football at the U.S. Naval Academy from 2012-14 and was a classmate of C-N’s offensive coordinator Tanner Fleming.  A native of Dublin, Ohio, Goliver earned his master’s of education in UCLA’s transformative coaching and leadership program in Winter 2024.
