2017-18 (Junior): Limited to 10.3 minutes per night and 13 games played battling through leg injuries…Nine games with double-digit minutes…Tallied two games with a season-high four steals (at Wingate on Jan. 13 and v. Newberry on Jan. 20).

2016-17 (Sophomore): Started 21 games and posted 20.5 minutes per game while scoring 2.9 points per night…Her 41 steals was third on the C-N roster while swatting 12 shots…Did not score in double figures on the year scoring a season-high seven points in a rout of King (Tenn.) on Nov. 16…Racked up a career-high 12 rebounds, five offensive, in a win at Tusculum on Feb. 15…Pilfered a career-high five steals at Coker on Jan. 14.

2015-16 (Freshman): SAC All-Freshman Team selection…Averaged 6.6 points per night and 3.8 rebounds to go along with 28 steals and nine blocks…scored in double figures five times while notching a career effort at Mars Hill where she racked up a career-high 18 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for her first-career double-double…Missed the final two games of the year with a concussion

HIGH SCHOOL:  Four-year starter for Alcoa High School under Coach Tonia Johnson (former CNU player)...During her high school career she totaled 1048 points (8.3 per game), 696 rebounds (5.5 per game), 393 assists (3.1 per game), 344 steals (2.7 per game) and 69 blocks...She was named District 4-AA Most Valuable Player in 2014 (Senior Year), District 4-AA Newcomer of the Year 2010 (Freshman Year)...She earned All-District, All-Tournament and All-County honors all four years...National Honors Society member and received the Daughters of the American Revolution Award.

Head Coach Mike Mincey on Newman: "We've been recruiting Kayla since her sophomore year and feel fortunate to get her. She plays with a lot of intensity and is very physical from her point guard spot. Kayla has all the intangibles a coach would want in a point guard and can do just about everything well. In addition to being a solid player on the floor she will do equally as well in the classroom making her a great fit for our program."
