Lady Eagles cruise past Lees-McRae, 8-1

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman women's tennis team ran its season record to 3-0 with an 8-1 win over Lees-McRae on Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles got off to a fast start by sweeping the doubles matches, and then won five of the six singles matches to secure the victory. The Lady Eagles were led by senior Taryn Cappadona (Kennesaw, Ga.), who recorded wins at No. 1 doubles with Stefy Stand (Ecuador) and No. 2 singles.
Other winners for C-N were Stand at No. 3 singles, freshman Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) at No. 2 doubles and No. 4 singles, sophomore Megan Wilson (Maryville, Tenn.) at No. 2 doubles and No. 6 singles, senior Stephanie Goode (Knoxville, Tenn.) at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles and junior Kate Walker (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) at No. 3 doubles.
The Lady Eagles return to action at home on Friday against the University of the Cumberlands. Match time is 2 p.m.
