Lincoln Memorial starts three game homestand for volleyball
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (11-15, 6-13 South Atlantic Conference) will conclude their season with three games at home beginning with the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters (16-11, 12-7 SAC) Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Holt Fieldhouse.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (11-15, 6-13 South Atlantic Conference) will conclude their season with three games at home beginning with the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters (16-11, 12-7 SAC) Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Holt Fieldhouse.
The Eagles were officially eliminated from postseason play Saturday afternoon as they fell in straight sets at Queens (N.C.). Junior setter Kristen Pickett (Cleveland, Tenn.) tallied 29 assists, six digs and four kills in the match.
The Lady Railsplitters are coming off of a four set victory over Catawba Saturday. Senior outside hitter Kaitlin Walton finished with a game-high 15 kills on a .375 attack percentage.
Since Lincoln Memorial topped Carson-Newman in three sets on October 8, the Railsplitters are just 5-5 while the Eagles are 3-7 in that span. Junior outside hitter Rachel Harper (Chattanooga, Tenn.) led all players with 13 kills to go along with nine digs. Lincoln Memorial was paced by Jazzy Oates who had 12 kills.
This season Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman rank fourth and fifth in the conference in hitting percentage at a .210 and .208 clip respectively. In conference matches, the Eagles and the Railsplitters are fifth and sixth in blocks per set with 1.56 and 1.52 per frame respectively.
Harper is holding steady with the third-most kills in the South Atlantic Conference with 337 for an average of 3.59, placing fourth in that statistic while averaging 0.37 aces per set, fourth best in the league.
Pickett is averaging 9.28 assists per set this season, third highest in the conference. Over her last nine matches, Pickett has notched 9.81 assists per set.
For Lincoln Memorial, libero Casey Mense has accumulated the second most digs in the SAC this season with 555 for an average of 5.19 per set which ranks third.
