Kennedy posts historical score during final round of Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Carson-Newman golfer Nicklaus Kennedy finished the final round of the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate with the second-lowest score in program history as the junior finished with a six-under 66.

Kennedy's score was the lowest score shot over the three rounds played by 56 players and is the 10th-lowest score in South Atlantic Conference history.
Kennedy's score propelled him 19 spots up the leaderboard for a three-way tie for sixth-place. Blake Houser holds the school record with a 65 shot in 2003. The last Eagles to shoot a 66 was Andy Lowe at the 2002 SAC Championships and Matthew Cram-Smith at the Johnny Palmer Invitational in 2003.
The Carson-Newman team finished sixth out of 11 teams at the tournament played at the Country Club of Orange Park. The Eagles finished with a third round combined score 303, which was the seventh lowest round recorded throughout the tournament.
Junior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished the tournament with a final round 75. He finished in a tie for 13th-place with an 11-over 227.
Sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) shot an 82 in round three to finish at 21-over 237.
Freshman Ben Kennard's (Corryton, Tenn.) last two rounds of the tournament were an even 80. He finished tied for 41st at 29-over 245.
Freshman Steven Hill (Knoxville, Tenn.) shot a 91 in his last round to finish tied for 53th at 43-over 259.
West Georgia won the team competition as the Wolves with the tournament's only sub-300 score of 291. They beat out co-host Lincoln Memorial by 12 shots for the victory. Wingate's Ben Gebhardt won the individual competition after beating West Georgia's Barrett Waters in a playoff.
The Eagles return to the Sunshine State March 9th and 10th for the Benbow Collegiate Tournament hosted by Butler University at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
