On the final day of the NCAA DII South Regional, Carson-Newman fired in its best team performance round of the tournament, shooting a 303 in the final round to move into 16th place at the end of the tournament.
GAINESVILLE, Ga. – On the final day of the NCAA DII South Regional, Carson-Newman fired in its best team performance round of the tournament, shooting a 303 in the final round to move into 16th place at the end of the tournament.
The Eagles improved with each round, one of five teams to do so this week. They started with an opening round 309, shaved four strokes off that score in round two, and then finished off regionals with a final round 303. As a team, C-N made just 12 birdies in the first two rounds combined and went on to make 11 as a team in the final round.
Emery Fisher paced Carson-Newman in the final round, achieving her best round of the tournament with a final round of two-over 74. She made all pars on the front nine, before mixing in three bogeys and a birdie on the final nine. Fisher finishes the tournament in a tie for 70th.
Ida Peterson and Madison Cline were C-N's top performers for the week. Peterson scored a three-over 75 in the final round. She fired in a one-under opening nine, before dropping four shots on the back nine with a four-over 40. Her final round score was her best of the tournament. Cline made the most birdies with four, two on each side. Her first three birdies were on par fours and it helped her shoot a final round of four-over 76.
Anaelle Picot was C-N's last score that factored in to the team effort. She made three birdies in a six-over 78 final round. She went three-over on both the front and back nine. Picot finishes the tournament in a tie for 75th place.
Parker Miller scored a eight-over 80 in her final round. Miller played her first ten holes at just one-over par, but then played her final eight holes at seven-over which featured a pair of double bogeys.
