GLENVILLE, W. Va. - Emerson Ahsmuhs and Annie Dziczkowski were the only two Eagles selected to the Glenville State All-Tournament team, along with six other players from opposing teams.
Ahsmuhs and Dziczkowski were nothing short of exceptional this weekend with 40+ kills each 40+ digs each over the four games at the Glenville State tournament. Both players made heavy contributions from the service line, grabbing more than a few aces and finding success throwing opponents out of system early with their tough serves.
Ahsmuhs had two games with 15 and 14 kills, and not having a game under 5 kills yet. She was also unreal on defense, picking up double-digit digs in every game of the tournament. With those marks, Ahsmuhs is averaging 3.58 kills per set, 10.08 attacks per set, and 5.25 digs per set, a mark that leads the team by nearly one whole dig per set. When you consider the sophomore's last season, her efforts this weekend show a vast improvement from freshman year where she only had one game with 10 or more digs and averaged less than a dig per set.
She was also nearly flawless on serve receive. Even though she was targeted the most on the team, she only made three errors.
Her videogame-like numbers earn her second-place honors in the SAC in attacks per set and 58th in the nation. Ahsmuhs's kills per set are third in the SAC and 64th in the nation, and her best mark of digs per set are second among conference competitors and 24th in the entire NCAA.
Dziczkowski was more of the same. With three games of 11 kills and two double-doubles, Dziczkowski shined on all fronts. She was the most accurate and effective hitter for C-N, registering a .290 hitting percentage. As a freshman, Dziczkowski racked up 75 kills, a mark she is already more than halfway to surpassing this season.
Her prowess at the service line was unstoppable, with 13 aces over the weekend. She went on multiple runs for the Eagles from the stripe, notching six and seven points in a row on multiple occasions. When her serves weren't spot it, she chipped in on defense, grabbing a 3.33 digs per set clip, good for 14th in the SAC.
Dziczkowski is among the top 100 in the nation in kills per set, and sixth in the SAC (3.33). She is also top 15 in the NCAA in service aces per set and the best in the conference (1.10).
