Pittman and Wilson Named All-Region at Southeast Regional Meet
Carson-Newman cross country caps off its 2025 campaign with strong performances and two All-Region runners at the Southeast Regional meet this past Saturday
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman cross country wrapped up its 2025 season at the Southeast Regional Meet, held at the Wingate Cross Country Course in Wingate, N.C., on Saturday, Nov. 8. The event featured the men's 10k and women's 6k races, bringing together some of the top programs in the region.
"Solid day overall to close out the season," said head coach Brent Borden. "Our women showed up strong against the region's best. We came up a little short of where we were capable of finishing, but it was a significant step for Carson-Newman women to finish in the top ten today. The men showed gutsy efforts to close out the season, despite not being anywhere near full strength. Excited for the momentum this crew has heading into track season."
The Eagles entered the meet prepared and focused after a season of steady improvement and strong showings at championship-level competitions throughout October and November. Head coach Brent Borden credited the team's preparation and effort, noting that the athletes had built toward this race all year and executed well on the course.
Women's runners Jenna Pittman and Keirieonna Wilson slotted into the top 25 of the meet, earning both runners All-Region honors. Pittman finished the 6k with a time of 22:51.41 in 21st place, followed closely by Wilson in 23rd place with a final time of 23:03.13.
"I'm incredibly proud of the way Jenna and Keirieonna raced today," said Borden. "They've shown consistency all year, which has led to successful seasons for both of them. Both of these ladies represent our program well, and they set a strong example for our younger athletes to follow."
Coming off a competitive performance at the South Atlantic Conference Championship at Tusculum University, Carson-Newman's runners carried that momentum into the regional stage. The women's squad once again battled closely with programs such as Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial, and Anderson, while also contending with North Greenville and Augusta for positioning in the regional standings.
Carson-Newman's showing at the Southeast Regional Meet marked the conclusion of the 2025 cross country season, as the Eagles now look ahead to building on their success in preparation for the 2026 campaign.
"Closing out the season the way the Eagles did today gives us momentum for the upcoming seasons," stated Borden. "I'm excited about the strong culture that we are building within Carson-Newman cross country. This is just the start."
