Women’s Team second, Men’s Team Tenth at Converse Kick Off
The Eagles cross country team opened the 2025 season at the Converse Kick Off in South Carolina this Friday night

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Carson-Newman cross country wrapped up its 2025 season opener at the Converse Kick Off in Spartanburg, S.C., where the men's team placed 10th and the women's squad finished 2nd.
The Eagles competed at Milliken Research Park, the same course used for the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional meet.
In the women's 5k, junior Jenna Pittman led the Eagles with a time of 19:29.3, finishing 5th overall. Newcomer Emma Roberts turned in a standout performance, placing 10th in 19:42.8. Also cracking the top 15 was junior Keirieonna Wilson, who secured 11th with a time of 19:44.9.
On the men's side, the 6k saw the Eagles place 10th overall in the 15-team field. Senior Bryson Burkett paced the group, finishing 15th in 20:03.3. Freshman Wesley Thomas followed with a 35th-place showing, clocking in at 20:50.8.
Carson-Newman returns to action on Friday, Sept. 12, at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., at John Hunt Park. The meet is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. CT.
