WINGATE, N.C. – In the second edition of the 2026 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, Carson-Newman (6-0) is receiving votes to be a ranked club.
Carson-Newman received three points and was one of eight teams to receive votes but miss out on the top 25.
C-N spent a majority of the 2025 season ranked in the three major polls (ABCA, DII Baseball and NCBWA). But, it was the NCBWA poll that C-N first reached the top 25 in, checking in at 21st in late February of last year.
The Eagles were ranked in the NBCWA poll for six straight weeks last season.
Tom Griffin's team is out to a 6-0 to start for just the third time in its DII era, and for the second straight season. C-N is just one of 21 DII teams still unbeaten and have played a game this season. It is one of six in the Southeast region and one of three in the South Atlantic Conference.
Carson-Newman begins league play tomorrow at Lincoln Memorial. First pitch against the Railsplitters is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The weekend series can be heard on cneagles.com/live. Fans can also watch the radio crew at work with a feed of press row on YouTube.
