JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman football will sport seven home games during the 2026 season, but who visits Burke-Tarr Stadium has changed from what was originally announced on April 7.
Carson-Newman will still open the season on Thursday, August 27 under the lights of Burke-Tarr Stadium at 7 p.m. But instead of NAIA foe Point visiting, the Eagles will open the Tyler Almond era against NCAA Division II and GMAC foe Tiffin.
This will be Carson-Newman's first matchup with the Dragons.
"We appreciate Tiffin for being flexible with this," head coach Tyler Almond said. "Carson-Newman has a longstanding tradition of postseason success. A 10th NCAA Division II game against an opponent the caliber of Tiffin prepares us for that."
The GMAC was founded in 2011. This will be Carson-Newman's first game against a school in the league. However, C-N does have an extensive history against one active member of the league. C-N and Hillsdale (the Chargers were GLIAC members at the time) clashed five times in the 1980s, including twice in the NAIA playoffs and one regular season matchup where the Eagles were ranked number one in the nation and the Chargers number two.
Carson-Newman last had seven home games during Mike Turner's debut as the Eagles' head coach in 2017. This marks just the fourth time this century Carson-Newman has had seven home games during the regular season. Carson-Newman rides a 10-game home winning streak into the 2026 season.
All Carson-Newman games are broadcast on the Eagle Sports Network on Joy 620 (WRJZ-AM, Knoxville). Home games and SAC contests can also be found on FloSports at cneagles.com/flofb.
