Five Eagles Qualify for NCAA Division II National Championships
Carson-Newman swimming is headed to the national stage, as five Eagles have earned the opportunity to compete at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships, March 10–14 in Evansville, Indiana.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman will send five swimmers to compete at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships, set for March 10–14 at the Southern Indiana Aquatics Center in Evansville, Indiana.
After a strong sophomore campaign, Megan Corcoran is the lone Eagle representing the women's team at nationals. Corcoran capped her season with an electric performance at the South Atlantic Conference Championships, going a perfect 4-for-4 in gold medals and earning Female Swimmer of the Meet honors. She will compete in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 butterfly, and 200 backstroke at nationals.
Gabriel Morales also delivered a standout showing at the SAC Championships, collecting three gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze. He was named Male Swimmer of the Meet for his efforts. Morales will swim the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke, and compete as part of the 400 freestyle relay team at nationals.
Gabriel Catapano is slated to compete in multiple individual events after earning two silver medals and one bronze at the SAC Championships. Catapano will race in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 400 freestyle at nationals.
Will Humphreys and Cody Hart will join Morales on the men's 400 freestyle relay team.
