Morales Wins SAC Male Swimmer of the Year Award
Gabriel Morales was named the South Atlantic Conference Male Swimmer of the Year, becoming the first male in Carson-Newman program history to earn the honor and the first Eagle swimmer recognized since Manon Compagner.

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Carson-Newman made program history this season as Gabriel Morales earned the South Atlantic Conference Male Swimmer of the Year award,
Gabriel Morales was named the South Atlantic Conference Male Swimmer of the Year, becoming the first male in Carson-Newman program history to earn the honor and the first Eagle swimmer recognized since Manon Compagner.
Morales put together a standout season at both the conference and national levels. At the South Atlantic Conference Championships, he was named Male Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual titles in the 100-yard backstroke (48.02), 200-yard butterfly (1:47.58), and 100-yard butterfly (47.14). He also added a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (1:46.22).
He followed that performance at the NCAA Division II Championships, placing third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 46.26, a South Atlantic Conference record. Morales also finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (46.47) and seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (1:45.95), earning three All-American honors.
Morales also set Carson-Newman school records and qualified for nationals in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and 200 butterfly.
His performances across the season led to a historic recognition for the program, marking a milestone achievement for Carson-Newman men's swimming.
