JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The ranked Lee Flames walked into Jefferson City ready to play, taking victories at every line aside from Max Stollecker's second singles match.
The energy was quiet today from the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex, as both the men's and women's teams played an out-of-conference and out-of-region opponent in Lee.
The Flames were ready to compete, grabbing two wins in doubles at the first and third lines. Yassin Ali and Leonard Baecker fought at first doubles, but dropped the match 6-4, while Boris Jordanov and Wade Donovan dropped a 6-0 decision at the three slot.
Louis Keenan and Max Stollecker were up 5-4 at the second line when Lee clinched the doubles point.
Stollecker was the only Eagle to deliver a win in this match. The sophomore showed up big in extra frames, winning 7-5, 7-6 (6-4) at the second singles line. The Slovenia native is now 7-3 in his singles matches this season and has won the last two in a row.
Otherwise, the Eagles went down in order. Louis Keenan took games at the one spot, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-4. Yassin Ali was right behind him with a loss at third singles 6-2, 6-2.
Leo Baecker fought in the first set to push his opponent to a 7-5 loss, and then proceeded to lose in set two 6-1. Wade Donovan played five today, but lost 6-3, 6-1, while Giancarlo Rosario rounded out the results with a 6-1, 6-0 loss at the six line.
C-N is now 4-12 on the season and has lost the last three matches straight. They will look to right the ship when they play #27 Tusculum on Thursday in Greenville. First serve between the Eagles and Pioneers is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
