JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Yassin Ali was the only Eagle to pick up a win on Carson-Newman Men's Tennis's senior day.
The Eagles fell by a score of 6-1 to the visitors from the NAIA organization. With the loss, C-N is 4-14 on the year and remains 2-6 in conference play.
In doubles, Max Stollecker and the senior being celebrated on the men's side, Keegan Nelson, were the only pair to pick up a win. The two took down Pikeville's second doubles pair 6-4.
Darko Kolevski and Giancarlo Rosario fell at first doubles 6-4, while Aiden Standefer and Boris Jordanov lost their doubles match at the third line 6-1.
With Pikeville up one, the Eagles couldn't find singles wins. Aiden Standefer and Boris Jordanov played 4th and 5th singles, respectively. Both sophomores fell 6-1, 6-0.
Keegan Nelson fell at six with set scores on 6-0, 6-2, and Giancarlo Rosario went down 6-3, 6-1.
Yassin Ali was the lone Eagle to secure a singles victory. The freshman defeated Alfonso Robinson 6-2, 6-1 at second singles for his third singles win of the year.
Max Stollecker's match at first singles went to a third-set tiebreaker, where the sophomore fell by scores of 6-0, 4-6, 7-10. This is just his fifth singles loss of the year, and his first loss at the one's line.
The men will have to refocus for their next match in three days' time when they take on Mars Hill on the road before they round out the season with #26 Lincoln Memorial and Newberry at home.
