Eagles Roll Through Day One of SACC Championship Tournament
Carson-Newman Beach Volleyball opened the South Atlantic Conference/Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament in dominant fashion on Friday, sweeping both of its Pool A matches at the Greeneville Beach Complex.
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Beach Volleyball opened the South Atlantic Conference/Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament in dominant fashion on Friday, sweeping both of its Pool A matches at the Greeneville Beach Complex.
The top-seeded Eagles (27-2) began the day with a commanding 5-0 victory over No. 5 seed Catawba. Carson-Newman controlled the match from start to finish, with all five pairs earning straight-set wins. The No. 1 duo of Trinity Hafey and Paige Halcrow set the tone with a decisive 21-7, 21-7 victory, while Emerson Ahsmuhs and Ava Potts clinched the match from the No. 2 position. Addie Smith and Camryn Ehlers, Morgan Foy and Lucy Bartee, and Madison Trondle and Kelcey Peterson completed the sweep to give the Eagles an early boost in pool play.
Carson-Newman carried that momentum into its second matchup of the day, earning another 5-0 sweep over No. 4 seed Wingate. The Eagles once again showcased their depth, with all five pairs securing victories to remain unbeaten on the day. Hafey and Halcrow, Ahsmuhs and Potts, Smith and Ehlers, Foy and Bartee, and Trondle and Peterson each delivered wins to cap a perfect opening day.
The Eagles return to Greeneville tomorrow to begin the semi-final matchup at 10:00am. and potentially the championship match scheduled for 1:30pm.
