Eagles Earn Win Over Southwest Baptist, Drop Match to No. 3 Concordia Irvine
The Eagles battled through a split Saturday at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships, sweeping Southwest Baptist and falling to No. 3 Concordia Irvine.
ULF SHORES, Ala. – Carson-Newman Beach Volleyball split its matches on Saturday at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships, sweeping Southwest Baptist 3-0 before falling to Concordia Irvine 3-0.
"Had a great morning, and I was pleased with how our team played today," said head coach Cat Collins. "If we were able to play Concordia again, we would win—just not quite our day."
The Eagles (32-3) opened the day with another dominant performance, earning a 3-0 victory over Southwest Baptist to remain unbeaten in tournament play at the time. Carson-Newman secured wins at the No. 2, 4, and 5 flights, while holding commanding leads on the remaining courts before play was halted.

In the afternoon matchup, the Eagles faced their toughest test of the tournament against third-seeded Concordia Irvine. Carson-Newman battled across all courts but ultimately dropped the dual 3-0, with two matches left unfinished after the clinch.

"We are going to take it and be proud of ourselves and focus on finishing our season strong tomorrow," said Collins. "I'm proud of this team. They've done so much, broken so many records, and done things no beach program at Carson-Newman has ever done, but I'm most proud of who they are. I'm looking forward to finishing this season strong with some of the best women I know."
