Eagles Sweep Opening Weekend Matches
Carson-Newman beach volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a strong showing at Truett McConnell University, collecting a trio of wins to begin the spring campaign.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman beach volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a strong showing at Truett McConnell University, collecting a trio of wins to begin the spring campaign.
"Not a bad start to the season," said head coach Cat Collins. "We have a lot of things we want to work on, but we are in a good place to start our season."
Opening weekend matches were played to decision format, meaning the first team to three wins claimed the dual.
The first matchup of the season saw the Eagles take on Huntingdon, where Carson-Newman secured a 3-0 victory over the Hawks.

Later in the day, the Eagles returned to the sand and earned a 3-1 victory over the University of Mobile. Carson-Newman claimed wins on three courts to clinch the three team meet and move to 2-0 on the opening day of competition.

"Camryn Ehlers and Addie Smith had a great weekend, ran things fast, and came out ready," Collins said. "All our pairs did good things. It was a great weekend to get the nerves out and be ready for the rest of the season."
Carson-Newman closed the weekend against Florida Memorial.

"Starting off with slower play allows us to focus on ourselves and each pair's chemistry," Collins said. "Now we are ready to compete, strategize, and make matches about our opponents."
The Eagles prepare to travel to Mount Berry, Ga., for a doubleheader against Berry College on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with matches scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
