Jordan wins his second SAC Athlete of the Week honors for his performance in Nashville
Rylan Jordan (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference’s Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday by the league’s office.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the fourth time this season, Carson-Newman Indoor Track & Field has a weekly honor, and for the first time, it is a repeat winner. Rylan Jordan (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference's Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday by the league's office.
Jordan dominated the competition at the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University. In the preliminary round, he ran a time of 6.71 seconds, putting him in second overall. In the semifinals, he once again ran 6.71, good for the fastest time of the section.
He took first place in the 60m finals with a time of 6.67 seconds. It's a new personal record for the sophomore and the second-fastest time in Carson-Newman history. His time is also the eighth-best time in the nation this season.
Carson-Newman wrapped up the regular season over the weekend. The Eagles now shift their focus to the SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on February 28th and March 1st.
