The Eagles close the regular season as a couple records fall at Georgia Tech and Centre
Another week of Carson-Newman track and field testing itself against premier athletes from around the country. The Eagles sent their top athletes to the Georgia Tech Invitational, and once again, more school records fell.
ATLANTA, Ga. – Another week of Carson-Newman track and field testing itself against premier athletes from around the country. The Eagles sent their top athletes to the Georgia Tech Invitational, and once again, more school records fell.
Lovelyne Larrame broke the school record in the 400m with a time of 53.80 seconds. It's currently the eighth-fastest time in Division II this season. She bested Tytiana Wilson's 2023 mark of 55.08 by 1.28 seconds to take fifth. Larrame also ran in the 100m, finishing in 26th with a time of 11.99 seconds.
Also on the women's side, Lidija Djokic broke the 400m hurdles record for the third time in four weeks. The senior clocked a 1:01.53 run to finish in 16th.
After making his spring debut last weekend in Knoxville, Amine Kasmi followed it up with a strong outing in Atlanta. Kasmi got on the podium with third in the 200m with 20.66 seconds. He was also fourth in the 100m at 10.47 seconds, the fastest among C-N participants.
Sophomore Rylan Jordan, who has been on a torrid run this spring, eased his workload by running in one event. He ran in the 200m and finished fourth, 20.67 seconds.
Other track athletes, including Favour Ekpekpe, took 13th in the 200m and 26th in the 100m, while Abriam Pramod's 47.76-second time in the 400m was good for 13th. The 4x100m women's team took 11th with 47.18 seconds.
On the field side, in the triple jump, Kendall Whitehead set a personal best with 11.75 meters in the triple jump. She came in 12th in the event overall.
Cadence Dolgin recorded another top 10 finish, placing in seventh at 4.80m.
Brooke Taylor participated in both the long jump and triple jump. The senior took 21st with 5.35m in the long, and 11.34m in the triple for 22nd. Elsewhere, Kellie Ivens set her PR with a 1.62m high jump.
Blayne Jackson took 21st in the long jump with a PR of 6.86m. While Carlos Kouassi's 14.22m triple jump helped him to an 11th-place finish.
DANVILLE, Ky. – On Friday, another group of Eagles headed north to Kentucky for Centre College's Centre Twilight. It was a one-day event that featured mainly underclassmen, with countless finishing in the top 10 and top 15.
Torrance Brady took first place in the 110m hurdles at 14.84 seconds on the men's side. In the same event, Eli Roberson finished in fifth at 15.88 seconds. While Caroline Bannak came in second for the women in the 100m hurdles, 15.59 seconds, and 10th in the 400m hurdles.
Jackson Thompson clocked a time of 51.02 seconds to take 10th in the 400m.
In the 100m for the women, Elise Curley was fourth, 12.21 seconds, with Ka'shauna Dyer taking sixth by a tenth of a second, 12.32.
Jenna Pittman's time of 2:23.27 was good for 7th in the 800m, and Emma Robers rounded out the top 10 with 2:25.57.
A trio of Eagles finished inside the top 10 of the long jump, with Biana Belfon leading the way in seventh, 5.15m. Eliza Collins, 5.11m, and Ava Clark, 5.00m, rounded it out in eighth and ninth, respectively.
Jermone Behrmann notched seventh with his 4:10.29 run in the men's 1500m. Rounding things out were Maggie Hope and Peyton Couch, also in the 1500m. Hope was 11th at 5:10.78, and Couch just behind her in 12th, 5:13.29.
Next up on the docket is a trip to the South Atlantic Conference Championships. Carson-Newman will have 11 days until the opening day at the Food City Complex in Emory, Virginia. The Eagles men's team finished second at the SAC Championships during the indoor season, with the women taking sixth.
